In the face of the great challenge ahead, reducing and mitigating the impact of our activities is something that should be on the agenda of all corporations. Beyond a trend, this goal is a reality that is creating new markets, catalysing innovations and starting to change how societies interact. Every business and every person must commit to this purpose. For MadBlue, reducing and mitigating our footprint is not an option, it is a commitment and an all-encompassing necessity within our organisation.
With this purpose in mind, we want to let you know in a transparent way the CO2 compensation strategy that we are going to carry out to become one more year one of the most planet-friendly festivals in our country.
HOW DO WE MEASURE THE CARBON FOOTPRINT?
At MadBlue we work to MEASURE, REDUCE and COMPENSATE the impact of all our activities, and thus give back to nature the resources we use. To measure the impact we consider the following KPIs:
- Information on the transport patterns of attendees and collaborators.
- Energy consumption data
- Impact of infrastructures used at the Summit
HOW DO WE COMPENSATE FOR THE CO2 GENERATED?
MadBlue is committed to working with Trees4Humanities to compensate the carbon footprint acquired during the different activities of the festival through its reforestation project in rural areas of Africa. Trees4Humanities has developed a biodegradable system that avoids the use of plastics during the deforestation process and adapts to the local community with native species.
Aprovechando el entorno de las zonas donde abundan las plantaciones plataneras, se utilizan las hojas secas y se usan como tejido vegetal para elaborar las macetas de las plantas. Este sistema permite además ofrecer un empleo digno y seguro a mujeres en riesgo de exclusión de zona, logrando una fuente de ingresos sostenible mediante la realización de estas macetas y en la actualidad han logrado generar empleo para más de 1.500 mujeres de estas zonas de África.
De esta forma queremos concienciar a la gente para que entienda la complejidad detrás de un proyecto de reforestación y la importancia de que se realice atendiendo las necesidades, contexto y condiciones del terreno donde se realiza. Trees4Humanity es la manera perfecta de centrar nuestros esfuerzos en compensar la huella de carbono tanto de manera tradicional, como de forma más tecnológica e innovadora.
A GREENER FESTIVAL
El año pasado conseguimos que el MadBlue Summit 2022 se encontrase entre los festivales distinguidos con el prestigioso galardón “A Greener Festival”, un premio otorgado por a Greener Future, organización sin ánimo de lucro centrada en el análisis del impacto medioambiental de eventos y festivales durante el desarrollo de sus actividades. El premio valoró entre otras cuestiones la efectividad conseguida a la hora de reducir el impacto externo de las instalaciones y la concienciación medioambiental presente a lo largo de todo el festival.
